Q: What is the name of the flower in the picture?
A: We see it all the time in Taiwan but not many know its English name. It is commonly known as the White Champaca, White Sandalwood, or White Jade Orchid (玉蘭花/白蘭).
Its scientific name is Michelia x alba.
白蘭（學名：Michelia x alba），在台灣亦稱「玉蘭花」，在華南、西南及東南亞地區生長的常綠原生植物，屬木蘭科含笑屬的喬木，一般可長至10－13米的高度。是由黃玉蘭（Michelia champaca）和山含笑（Michelia montana）自然雜交得到，同屬的還有大約49種植物。其花形似黃葛樹芽包，在西南地區還有黃葛蘭的別名。
